Cupping Therapy

Myofascial decompression that lifts tissue and accelerates recovery.

Cupping (myofascial decompression) uses suction cups to lift tissue layers, increase blood flow, and release fascial restrictions. We apply cupping as part of an evidence-based PT plan — for muscle recovery, pain relief, mobility improvement, and post-workout recovery.

What We Treat

Conditions addressed by Cupping Therapy

Myofascial restrictions
Muscle tension and recovery
Pain in neck, shoulders, back, hips, hamstrings, calves
Post-workout soreness
Mobility limitations
Scar tissue and chronic adhesions

Treatment Approach

What we do in Cupping Therapy

Static Cupping

Cups placed and left for 5–15 minutes to decompress underlying tissue.

Dynamic Cupping

Cups moved over oiled skin to combine decompression with sliding effect — like reverse massage.

Cupping with Movement

Cups in place while the patient performs specific movements to elongate fascial planes.

What to Expect

Your visit, step by step

01

Assessment

Identifying which tissues are restricted and would benefit from decompression.

02

Cupping Treatment

10–20 minutes integrated into the session. Some skin discoloration (cup marks) is normal and resolves in a few days.

03

Active Follow-Up

Movement and exercise immediately after to reinforce mobility gains.

Typical Timeline

Most patients feel immediate improvement; durable change typically takes 3–6 sessions integrated with manual therapy and exercise.

Cupping Therapy FAQs

Why do the marks happen?

Cupping creates suction that draws stagnant fluid and inflammatory byproducts toward the surface of the skin. The marks are not bruises — they're a reflection of underlying tissue health and resolve in 2–10 days.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as a deep stretch or pull. It's not painful in the way pinching or pressing is. Many people find cupping relaxing.

Is cupping evidence-based?

Cupping has growing evidence for myofascial pain, muscle recovery, and chronic neck/back pain. We use it as one tool within a broader treatment plan, not as a standalone cure-all.

Can I work out after cupping?

Light to moderate activity is fine. Heavy training or sport on the same day may amplify post-treatment soreness — we usually recommend an easier session immediately after.
